Jamel Richardson hasn't missed a beat.
The Montreal Alouettes slotback started the 2011 Canadian Football League season the way 2010 ended, earning the honour Tuesday as the CFL's offensive player of the week. The award came less than eight months after winning the most valuable player award at the 98th Grey Cup game in Edmonton.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Alex Suber was named the defensive player of the week, while B.C. Lions running back Tim Brown was the top special teams player. Winnipeg safety Ian Logan earned the nod as the top Canadian.
Richardson hauled in nine catches for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as the Alouettes edged the Lions 30-26 on Thursday. The 29-year-old Texan scored touchdowns of 40 yards and 46 yards in the second quarter as the Als took a 27-10 halftime lead.
Suber picked up six tackles in Winnipeg's 24-16 victory on Friday. He also came up with the game's turning point by picking up a fourth-quarter interception and returning it for a 66-yard touchdown that gave the Bombers the lead for good.
Brown, in his first CFL game, returned a Montreal punt in the second quarter for a 97-yard touchdown. He finished the game with five punt returns for 132 yards and three kick returns for 50 yards.
Logan, meanwhile, intercepted two passes and added three tackes in Winnipeg's win. The Wilfred Laurier alumnus is in his sixth season with the Bombers.
